Better late than never
I’ve tried writing a new entry a few times since November, Christmas greetings, horror at the tsunami, motivated enthusiasm at the start of a new year and all the platinum albums I’m definitely going to get signed and release etc, but reading them back every time just seemed dull or cheesy or pointless, like that new years resolution we all made this year about getting fit (went to the gym once in the first week of January, that was fun, promised I’d do it several times a week, haven’t been since etc.)
I’ve actually re-written this post a couple of times already.
Nevertheless, the longer I leave it, the harder it’ll be – like ice cream in the freezer – so I’d like to take this opportunity to start posting again, and sincerely hope that this year (unlike last year, despite my determination) I’ll be able to make enough time to roll out a constant stream of music.
My business is all-consuming and energy-depleting, and I’m determined not to let it take away my dreams. Late-night talks with Jeannie have lead a decision to allow me to take the lead a lot more in the music side of the business, which is minimal at the moment – the idea being that at the moment I treat my music as something I do in my spare time, when I should be looking at it like another side of the business.
With this concept being in place, I’ve started working the odd day in the studio instead of waiting till the evening, and hope to move into a 50/50 situation between work and music. It’s the only way that I’ll be able to be in a position where my music does become another source of income, so I can eventually spend all my time doing it!
So, good luck to me, and I hope your dreams come true this year too.
