RIP Smiley Culture

Smiley Culture has been killed in his home during a police drugs raid. Apparently his wounds were ‘self inflicted’….? His hit ‘Police Officer’ seems to take on a more ironic tone now. Horrible.

He was one of the first reggae artists I discovered when I was very young, and I loved his comedy lyrics and rudeboy confidence. His tunes got me really excited about reggae, and encouraged me to investigate further.. Thank God I did; my musical life would have been a completely different place if I hadn’t.

Rest In Peace, badboy.
