Hyetal – Diamond Islands

Forthcoming on Black Acre Records on 11th April, this new one by Hyetal is wicked; kind of an electro vibe to the instrumental, with a hands-in-the-air house vocal over the top.. damn, that doesn’t do it justice at all; it’s beautiful; the kind of track you want the DJ to drop at 3am when everything in the world is just chilled and perfect…

Queensway – St. Valentine

This is a really beautiful downtempo track by Ukrainian producer Queensway.

Just gorgeous pads swell and flow around a femal vocal, sampled from Ian Van Dahl’s track, Reason; it works perfectly.

A Gem.

▶ Benga – Zero M2

A different kind of vibe here, just uploaded by Benga… jazz keys confuse for a bit, but hold out, as when the bassline kicks in, it all makes sense…

RIP Smiley Culture

Smiley Culture has been killed in his home during a police drugs raid. Apparently his wounds were ‘self inflicted’….? His hit ‘Police Officer’ seems to take on a more ironic tone now. Horrible.

He was one of the first reggae artists I discovered when I was very young, and I loved his comedy lyrics and rudeboy confidence. His tunes got me really excited about reggae, and encouraged me to investigate further.. Thank God I did; my musical life would have been a completely different place if I hadn’t.

Rest In Peace, badboy.…

Swarms – Your Voice Shakes

One of my favourite tunes right now.. Dubstep mixes with downtempo, pure beauty, this is music for the soul. Swarms is the absolute bomb.

New one from myself coming really really soon….

FaltyDL – Brazil (Cairo’s Falling Down Remix)

Had my eye on Cairo for a while, he’s got some good stuff going on; Loving this remix of ‘Brazil’ by FaltyDL – nice chilled, future garage, with a cute vocal clip (sounds like a bit of Erykah Badu??)

Check out this website I found at

Following on from my previous post about Mount Kimbie, they’ve just announced a UK Tour, including Dates in London, Glasgow, Brighton, Bristol, Manchester and (slightly randomly for someone who went to 6th Form college there) the tiny seaside town of Bexhill… I’m sure the De La Warr Paviliion’s a lot nicer since I was last there…..

Check out their Facebook Event page for dates and venues:
See you there!
